A Gray day at Largs earns Stephen £1,000

Stephen Gray scored his first win in Scotland this year with a four-under-par 66 earning the Hayston man the £1,000 first prize in today's Largs pro-am.

A winner of a Costa del Sol pro-am in February, Gray, pictured, had a round of five birdies and one bogey over the par-70 course. Out in three-under 31 with the help of sub-par figurs at the shot first, long third and ninth, Gray also birdied the long 12th and 13th before dropping his only stroke of the round, at the 15th.
Eastwood pro David Orr, fourth in the Gleneagles Scottish professional championship in his only other competitive outing this season, finished second with a 68 (31-37) to collect £799.
Local Largs man Paul Robinson claimed third place with a 69 in which he had five birdies but four bogeys. He earned £600.
Mark Kerr (Marriott Dalmahoy) led the BMW No 2 team of Russell Borrie (handicap 18), Angus Borrie (11) and Robert Wilson (11) to victory in the team event with a net score of 57, 13-under-par.
