WOODS GOES FOR THE BIOMECHANICAL MAN

Tiger chooses Como as new swing coach

he biggest coaching vacancy in golf has been filled.
Tiger Woods tweeted today that he has chosen Chris Como to succeed Sean Foley as his next swing coach.
Como, 37, is based in Plano, Texas, and was named by Golf Digest as one of the "best young teachers" in 2013. Woods' tweet sent many to Como's website, prompting the site to crash in the minutes following the announcement.
Woods also released the following statement via his manager, Mark Steinberg: "I was introduced to Chris this summer by Notah [Begay], and subsequently we had several good conversations about the golf swing. I've worked with him about a month since I started practising. Chris will consult and work with me during the year."
Woods took on a more scientific approach to his swing while under Foley's tutelage - with mixed results - and it appears that trend will continue with his new instructor.
Como is currently completing a masters degree in biomechanics and incorporates that scientific background into his instruction.
"I like to study the golf swing in biomechanical terms," Como wrote in Golf Digest in 2013.
Woods parted ways with Foley in August after four years together following an injury-filled season that featured zero top-10 finishes. He has previously worked with Butch Harmon (1996-2002) and Hank Haney (2004-2010).
Woods has not teed it up since missing the cut at the US PGA Championship and will return to competition next month at the Hero World Challenge.
