DORNOCH MAN FAILS TO MAKE FINAL SCHOOL
GUNN BLOWS IT WITH TRIPLE BOGEY
AT THE LAST HOLE
AT THE LAST HOLE
A
nighmare triple bogey 7 at the very last hole cost Dornoch exile Jimmy
Gunn a place in the Web.com Tour Final Qualifying School field in
Florida next month.
Gunn
looked like sailing through from the Stage 2 eliminator (ended Friday,
California time) at Black Bear Creek Golf Club, Murrieta, California
when he birdied the 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th after bogeying the sixth.
But
he blew his chance with a 7 at the par-4 18th to finish with a 72 for
joint 20th place on 289. Only the leading 19 with totals of 288 or
better advanced.
Gunn's earlier rounds were 75, 75 and 67.
Trevor Simsy from California was the leading qualifier by four shots with a 12-under-par total of 276 (67-70-68-71).
Runner-up was J R Myers, also of California, with 67, 73, 73 and 67 for 280.
