GOLF LEAGUE FINAL AT ST ANDREWS
NEWS RELEASE
Finalists in the D F Communications Aberdeen Business Golf League have raised £700 for the British Heart Foundation.
Teams from 12 North-east of Scotland companies teed off at the prestigious Castle Course in St Andrews after a summer of competition.
Greg
Davidson and Mike Halliday of Fugro won top prize. In addition to
the trophy, the duo also collected a Castle Course framed flag and a
magnum of champagne each for their efforts.
The
Premier Oil team of Keith Hendry and Craig Smith finished as
runners-up, while Jim Campbell and Neale Watson of Stork came third.
As
part of a combined Stableford competition, Fugro won, courtesy of a
better inward half, having tied on 59 with Premier Oil. The Stork team
finished with a score of 58.
Craig
Forsyth, sales director at DF Communications, said: “It was a fantastic
day out and everyone involved seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. It
was also a great opportunity to raise some valuable funds for the
British Heart Foundation which will help them continue their terrific
work.
“Congratulations
to Greg and Mike who put in an excellent performance to clinch the
trophy. Conditions proved tricky at times as a result of the fog but,
overall, the standard of play was very high.
“The
league is continuing to go from strength to strength with a good spirit
building as the players get to know each other better. Taking part in
the competition provides a valuable opportunity for business people to
network outside of work.
“Attention is already turning to next year’s competition which we are confident will be another success.”
Iain Powell of DF Communications and Graeme Willox of Strachans shared the prize for nearest the pin.
DF
Communications, an award-winning mobile phone and communications
specialist to small, medium and large businesses, sponsored and
organised the long-running league for a third consecutive year.
Each year the winning team nominates a charity to benefit from funds raised during the subsequent year’s event. Money
raised from this year’s tournament will be donated to the British Heart
Foundation, which was nominated by the 2013 winners Undersea Sense.
This year’s winning team, Fugro, will select the charity to benefit from the 2015 competition.
Any businesses interested in taking part in the 2015 DF Communications Business Golf League should contact Craig Forsyth at golf@dfcommunications.com.
More
than 40 companies from across the north-east teed-off at a variety of
local courses between April and September. The Business Golf League is
played in a fourball format with five or six teams in each division.
The winners and runners-up of each division then qualified for the finals at the Castle Course – the newest addition to St Andrews Links which is a 6759-yard, par-71.
