DUBAI OPEN REPORT AND LEADING SCORES

PAUL DOHERTY THIRD-ROUND 

REVIVAL EARNS THIRD PLACE, $4,000

Former Scottish boys champion Paul Doherty conjured up a four-under-par 68 - seven shots better than his second round - to pull himself up into a third-place finish and a $4,000 payday in the Dubai Open at Al Abdia Golf Club.
Doherty, who is based in South Wales, finished with a six-under-par aggregate of 210 (67-75-68), three shots behind the winner of the $9,000 first prize, 21-year-old Florida-based Cyril Suk (Czech Republic) who shot 71, 68 and 68 for 207.
Englishman Luke Joy was second on 209 (70-68-71) and earned $6,000.

Former US amateur champion Matt Fitzpatrick, sharing the lead with a round to go, slumped to a closing 78 for joint seventh place on level par 216
The other three Scots who made the cut finished outside the top 20.
Dubai-based Tom Buchanan was joint 22nd on 221 (75-72-74); Fraser McKenna (Balmore) joint 39th on 225 (71-78-76) and amateur Danaiel Kay shot 78-74-76 for 228 and 46th place.
