BRITISH BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP DOWN TO LAST EIGHT

EWEN FERGUSON ONLY SCOT IN 

PRESTWICK QUARTER-FINALS

Defending champion Ewen Ferguson (Bearsden) is the only Scot left in quarter-finals of the British boys amateur championship at Prestwick.
Ferguson beat Oliver Clarke (England) by one hole in the morning round and then thrashed Max Schmitt from Germany by 8 and 7  to enter the last eight.
He will now play England's Lewis George) for a place in the semi-finals.
The last Scot to play in two successive British boys' championship finals was Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh). He won the first but lost the following year's final.The Scots who bowed out in the morning round were Christopher Curran (Harburn), beaten 3 and 1 by Morten Toft Hansen (Denmark); Ryan Lumsden (Royal Wimbledon), beaten 2 holes by Matthew Myers (England), and Callum Fyfe (Cawder), beaten by one hole by Tim Harry (Wales). 
Curran and Fyfe had been the leading qualifiers through the stroke-play stages.

Oskar Bergqvist (Swe) bt Billy Watson (England) 5 and 3.
Christoffer Bring (Den) bt Simon Zach (Cze Rep) 3 and 2.
Kristoffer Reitan (Nor) bt Max Boegel (Ger) at 20th
Rowan Lester (Ire) bt Matthew Myers (Eng) 3 and 2.
Bradley Moore (Eng) bt Jamie Li (Eng) 2 holes.
Tim Harry (Wales) bt Louis Lazarus (Eng) 3 and 2.
