TIME TO WIN ANGUS
SENIOR TITLE
After a busy summer of organising boys' events and junior inter-area matches in his roles as Angus county junior convener and Monifieth Golf Club junior convener, Alex McKay found the time to win the Angus county seniors championship at Kirriemuir Golf Club this week.
Before he moved from Glasgow to Dundee some 20 years ago, Alex had been club
champion at Lethamhill, Crow Wood and Williamwood golf clubs.
In the
early 90s he was runner-up in the Glasgow county match-play and
stroke-play championships in consecutive years.
"After competing at golf
for 40 years, this is my first ever county title. I would have put
resurgence in my own golf down to the inspiration I get from watching
the top Angus boys and youths doing so well over the past
month," said modest Alex.
