FOUR SCOTS UNDER PAR ON OPENING DAY

SCOTS' SOLID START IN EUROPEAN

MEN'S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Scotland have made a good start to the European men's amateur team golf championship at Vanajanlinna Golf Club in Finland.
After the first of two qualifying stroke-play rounds, Scotland are lying joint second with France on six under par - seven shots behind leaders Spain.
England and Ireland are a shot behind on five under par.
Scotland's top scorers were Bradley Neil (pictured) with a six-birdie round of three-under-par 69 for joint 11th place and Grant Forrest who also had six birdies, but a double bogey 5 at the short 16th in returning a 70 for a share of 15th place.
Graeme Robertson and James Ross both returned 71s for a share of 23rd place. That meant four of the six Scots were under par on the opening day.
Jamie Savage bogeyed five holes in a row from the fifth but a strong finish saw him post a 73 for joint 48th position.
Jack McDonald had a quadruple bogey 8 at the ninth and a double bogey at the short 16th in his 76 for joint 78th place.
