FOUR PAIRS QUALIFY FOR BETTER-BAL FINAL AT ST MELLION


HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR ALAN REID AND

PARTNER AT MUSSELBURGH 

West Lothian Golf Club head professional Alan Reid celebrated his 40th birthday today by partnering Englisman Darren Bragg (North London Golf Academy) to victory in the Scottish qualifying competition of the Golfbreaks.com PGA four-ball championship.
Musseburgh was the venue for Reid and Bragg to post a bogey-free, better-ball score of nine-under-par 62 which was studded with birdies at the second, third, sixth, seventh, ninth, 12th, 13th, 17th and 18th
The other pairs who qualified for the national final at St Mellion fron August 20-22 were David Broadfoot (Kirkcudbright) and Richard Clark (Direct Golf) with a 64, and two pairs on the 65 mark - Ewan Macpherson (Auchterareder and Sean Bissett (Kingsfield), and Stewart Savage (Dalmuir) and Craig Everett (Caldwell).
Tournament director Glenn McPhee kept the tournament on schedule by squeejeeing the seventh, eighth and ninth greens ahead of the players following morning torrential rain which eventually cleared.
