Royal Aberdeen's Nick Macandrew has an outstanding chance of scoring a second win this season on the SGU 72-hole Order of Merit at Haggs Castle Golf Club on Sunday.
He leads the prestigious Cameron Corbett Vase tournament at the Glasgow venue by five shots at the halfway stage.
Macandrew, who beat Jamie Savage (Cawder) in a play-off for the Battle Trophy at Crail in April, set the first-round pace at Haggs with a seven-underppar round of 65.
That gave him a two-shot lead over John Duff (Newmachar) and Scott Grant (Downfield).
They both drifted out of contention in the second round in which Macandrew increased his lead with a 69 for a 10-under-par halfway tally of 134.
His nearest rivals now are fellow-Northeast player, Chris Robb (Meldrum House), winner of the East of Scotland Open 72-hole tournament at Lundin last weekend, Craig Chalmers (Cawder) and Craig Ross (Kirkhill).
Best known player among those who missed the cut at 149 was Dollar's Scott Borrowman who shot 74-80 for 154.
