STEWART, WHITE AND GALLAGHER WILL PLAY TWO WEEKEND ROUNDS

THREE SCOTS MAKE THE CUT IN

72-HOLE ALPS TOUR EVENT

Ayrshire's Michael Stewart, Fifer James White and John Gallagher from Edinburgh all made the halfway cut in this week's 72-hole Alps Tour event in France, La Mirabelle d'Or at Golf de la Grange aux Ormes.
Stewart is lying joint 15th on 143, seven shots behind the two Frenchman who are sharing the lead. Michael had an excellent second-round, three-under-par 68, an improvement of seven shots.
White and Gallagher both got through on the limit mark of 147 which, for most of the day, looked like being one stroke too many.
But late on the scores deteriorated a trifle and instead of 146 being the cut mark, 147 was the magic number.
White had rounds of 72 and 75, Gallacher 73 and 74. They are tied 40th going into the third round.
Most Alps Tour events are over three rounds. This one is an exception. It is over 72 holes.
One Scot did not survive the cut. John Henry (Clydebank and District) missed it by one with scores of 76 and 72 for 148.
