RENFREWSHIRE GOLF UNION
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
Each year,
Renfrewshire Golf Union provides coaching at Mearns Castle Golf Academy to a
squad of under 14 year old boys who show promise. They receive guidance on all aspects of the
game from professional coaches David Orr and Mark Loftus under the watchful
eyes of RGU boys’ convenors, Graham McGee and Gary Havlin.

BRIDGE OF WEIR YOUNGSTER IS SELECTED FOR R & A
EVENT
Every two years,
the RandA invite around 130 affiliated countries to enter their top under-16
year old boy and girl in the Junior Open Championship. This year they will play three rounds at West
Lancashire Golf Club before getting the opportunity to view the Open
Championship at Royal Liverpool.
Scotland’s boys
will be represented by 15 year old Jamie Stewart who plays at Old Ranfurly Golf
Club. Jamie is delighted to have been
selected as are his club and Renfrewshire Golf Union which has provided
coaching over recent years.
Two years ago,
Renfrewshire also provide the top boy – Colin Edgar of Cochrane Castle.
