PERSISTENT FOG AT ROYAL PORTRUSH FORCES CHANGE OF PLANS

THE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP – REVISED SCHEDULE
The R and A has confirmed the revised schedule for the Amateur
Championship following yesterday’s delays caused by persistent fog.
The
second stroke play round is scheduled to be completed today (Wednesday
18 June) and the match play stage of the Championship will commence on
Thursday 19 June. The revised schedule is as follows:
Thursday 19 June | Preliminary Round (if required) and Round 1 (32 matches) |
Friday 20 June | Round 2 (16 matches) and Round 3 (8 matches) |
Saturday 21 June | Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals |
Sunday 22 June | 36-hole Final |
Should there be further delays, it has been decided that only 64 players will progress to the match play stage and there will be no preliminary round. In the event of a tie for 64th place it will be decided by card play-off under an amended Condition of Competition.
