A FOGGY DAY PUTS THE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP BEHIND SCHEDULE

Play suspended for the day in the Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush and Portstewart

FROM THE R and A WEBSITE
Play has been suspended for the day in the Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush and Portstewart due to persistent fog.
Play will resume at both courses at 7.30am on Wednesday 18 June.  Competitors who have commenced their second round and have discontinued play due to the suspension are required to report to their assigned venue for a roll call at 7.00am.
Both clubhouses and practice grounds will be open at 6.00am.
A revised second round draw will be posted on Championships.RandA.org later this evening.  However, competitors should contact the Championship Office on 01334 213 400 (option1) if there are any questions.
Only limited play was possible this morning before thick fog enveloped both courses. This resulted in an 8hr 13min delay at Royal Portrush and a four and a half hour delay at Portstewart.
Play resumed at both courses but was subject to further suspensions throughout the afternoon.
