OOSTHUIZEN IN INDONESIAN MASTERS
Banchory's James Byrne (pictured) matched former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen's par round of 72 and they both outscored France's Ryder Cup place contender Victor Dubuisson by two shots in the first round of the Indonesian Masters at Jakarta.
Byrne had birdies at the first and 10 but bogeys at the 11th and 13th.
Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung continued his dazzling form by taking a share of the first-round lead ib five-under 67 with South Korean-American Anthony Kang.
Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat, a three-time Asian Tour winner, signed for a 68 to take a share of third place with defending champion Bernd Wiesberger of Austria, Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, India’s Sujjan Singh as well as Australia’s Jake Higginbottom and Cameron Smith who graduated from Qualifying School earlier this year.
