LOW SCORING ON ALL-AMERICAN GATEWAY TOUR
PAUL SHIELDS SHOOTS 67 BUT ONLY
JOINT 20TH IN ARIZONA
FROM WILLIE SHARPE
Kirkhill's Paul Shields
shot a three under par 67 in the first round of the 54 hole
All-American Gateway Tour at Wigwam Golf Club near Phoenix, Arizona.
So high is the standard of play on this circuit that Paul's very good round sees him in "only" joint 20th place, five shots behind the joint leaders on 62: Americans Riley Arp and Brock Mackenzie plus Canadaian Kevin Spooner.
Other Scots in the field are Jimmy Gunn who is sharing 32nd place after a 68 and California-based Andrew Gunson who is T44 on 69 and in danger of not making the 36-hole cut..
The top 25 and ties will make the cut which is forecast at two-under-par 138.
