NEWS RELEASE BY US PGA TOUR.COM STAFF
US PGA Tour player and Jacksonville Beach resident Russell Knox will take on Jacksonville Jaguars mascot Jackson de Ville in a closest-to-the-pin competition at Sunday's NFL (American football) game against the Tennessee Titans.
Knox is No. 33 in the FedExCup standings. He shot 59 earlier this year at the Web.com Tour's Albertsons Boise Open. The Inverness-born Scot  played college golf at Jacksonville University for four years (when Duncan Stewart from Grantown on Spey was
his team-mate).
Knox and de Ville will each hit an approximately 125-yard shot from atop the Sky Patio in the south end zone to an island green located at the 50-yard line. If Knox is closer to the hole, the Jaguars Foundation will make a $10,000 donation to the Malivai Washington Youth Foundation.
If de Ville is closer -- which has already happened twice this year -- the Jaguars Foundation will make a $1,000 charitable donation to the Malivai Washington Youth Foundation and every fan in attendance will receive a free order of Cheesesticks from Papa John’s. In addition, if either de Ville or Knox makes a hole-in-one, one fan selected prior to the game will win $1 million from the Jaguars.
Other players who have participated this year include Billy Horschel, David Lingmerth, Mark McCumber, Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk and Bud Cauley.
Knox is on the US PGA Tour this season after graduating from the Web.com Tour Finals. He has made the cut in all four of his starts in the 2013-14 season, and finished no worse than 32nd.
