GLASGOW'S BLAKE ST JOHN IN TOP 10 AFTER GECKO TOUR FIRST ROUND

Glasgow-born Blake St John (29), pictured below, could be about to earn his first prizemoney as a rookie tour pro.

He shot a two-under-par 70 today (Thursday) to be joint ninth at the end of the first day of the 36-hole Spanish Gecko Pro Tour competition at Aloha Golf Club on the Costa del Sol.
Highlight of St John's halves of 33-37 was an eagle 2 at the par-4 seventh. He also birdied the first, fifth, sixth and 16th with bogeys at the fourth, eighth, 10th and 11th.
Malcolm Isaacs (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) had a 72 for joint 19th place. He had halves of 36 with birdies at the sixth and 13th.
Sharing the lead at halfway on six-under 66 is England's Rod Bastard and Spain's Pastor Rufian.
