KIRRIEMUIR'S ROSS DALLAS RETAINS ANGUS BOYS' MATCH-PLAY TITLE
Ross
Dallas of Kirriemuir successfully defended the Angus Boys matchplay
title with great display of solid shotmaking and course
management. In the morning semi-final he was dormie 3 up on local hope
Jamie Beedie but a poor lie in a bunker at 16 and a great par save from
Jamie at 17 ensured the match would go the distance where Ross made a
great up and down from the road at the back of the green to win the
match.
In
the other semi-final, the surprize package of the championship,
Downfield's Jonh
McKenna playing off a handicap of 6, who in the previous round had
knocked out national squad player Connar Cook, this time accounted for
2011 champion Gavin Petrie of Fofar.
In
the final, John was 2 up through 8 holes but found three bunkers in a
row. The momentum swung in Ross's favour and he eventually closed out
the match at the 16th.
