PATTERSON LEADS FIRST SENIOR QUALIFYING ROUND AT ALYTH

Sunningdale's Tony Patterson led the field with a par-matching 70 at the end of the first qualifying round at the Scottish senior men's amateur match-play championship at Alyth Golf Club today.
Paterson will start the second round of the elimination contest - which will produced 32 qualifiers - with a two-stroke lead from Lindsay Blair (Grangemouth).
If the cut had been made on the first-round scores, then 79 would
have been the vital number.
