NORTH-EAST YOUTHS TOO STRONG FOR NORTH AND ANGUS AT FORFAR

                        THE WINNING NORTH-EAST YOUTHS LINE-UP AT FORFAR
North-east beat the North and Angus with a convincing performance in the inter-district youths tournament at Forfar Golf Club on Sunday.
The North-east team of Jack Harling, Sam Kiloh, Niall Young (making his district debut), Chris Lamb, Ben Murray, Sean Lawrie, Adam Fisher and Craig Lawrie won by 32 strokes.
The final totals were;
North-east 738, North 770, Angus 785.

North-east forged clear with a foursomes total of 221 to North's 226 and Angus's 232.
In the afternoon singles, North-east again hit the high notes with the best four individual scores from:
Ben Murray 70
Adam Fisher 71
Jack Harling 72
Craig Lawrie 72.
Murray's 70 was made up of two contrasting nines - 40 out and 30 back. He missed a six-footer on the last for an inward half of 29.
Format was three from four scores counting in morning foursomes and seven from eight in the afternoon singles. With no rain falling anywhere for more than a week, the Forfar course played more like a links than a parkland course.
North were a man short, Jeff Wright having withdrawn on Saturday morning.
