The Kirkcudbrightshire Match Play Final took place over the New Galloway course.  The finalists were Ross Murray (Southerness) and Graeme Findlay (Castle Douglas); Ross won 4 and 2
The course was in top class condition and the pair put on an entertaining final.  Both started tentatively and made mistakes on the first hole which Ross won 5 to Graeme's 6.  Ross continued to storm ahead of his rival winning the 2nd and 3rd to be 3 up on the 4th tee. The 4th is a par 3 and Graeme's tee shot finish 2 metres from the flag and he holed his putt for a birdie 2, Ross could only score a par.  Ross won the 5th to par.  The 6th was halved.  Ross went 4 up on the 7th with the 8th being halved.  Graeme managed to pull Ross's lead back to 3 at the turn.  The 10th once again thwarted Graeme as he struggled up to the top green finishing with a 5, Ross played a superb drive and then his iron shot to the green, sunk his putt for a birdie 3 to once again go 4 up.
Graeme then started his comeback winning the 12th with a par, the 13th with a birdie 2 but he just couldn't manage to get back on level terms and Ross won the match on the 16th - 4 and 2.  After the match, Norman Russell, President of the Kirkcudbrightshire Golfers Association presented Ross with the Trophy and Graeme with his runner up voucher.
