JIMMY GUNN SCORES BACK-TO-BACK WINS IN UNITED STATES

FROM THE PRESS AND JOURNAL
By DANNY LAW
Dornoch golfer Jimmy Gunn has claimed his second tournament victory in successive weeks by leading the way home in the San Juan Open.
The 32-year-old Highlander, based in the States for the past five or six years, having turned pro after he finished as leading amateur a Northern Open, had gone into the tournament full of confidence following his success at the Navajo Trail Open at Hillcrest, Durango, Colorado.
A final round of 65 gave Gunn a 16-under-par total of 268 for the 72-hole tournament at the San Juan Country Club. He finished one shot ahead of runner-up Jesse Mueller.
Gunn, who won more than £11,000 for first prize, made birdies at the 10th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th in a grandstand finish.
He said: "There are so many good players here and I knew the compettion was going to be like this. I really thought I'd need to birdie one of the last two holes to win."
Gunn is currently playing his trade on the All-American Gateway Tour but is confident that he can make the step up to the US PGA Tour.
"That's why we play in these tournaments. The guys here, we all know, were good enough to make the US Tour. Jesse played on the Web.com Tour a couple of years ago and made the cut at the 2012 US Open. I was even leading the US Open qualifier at Memphis after the first round this year.
"I'm really confident I will get there. A number of these guys will also."
