DUFF HOUSE ROYAL PIP FRASERBURGH FOR JOURNAL CUP AT MACDUFF

They might not have been dancing in the streets of Banff tonight but certainly Duff House Royal's success in the North-east District's annual 36-hole stroke-play club team championship at neighbouring Royal Tarlair Golf Club, Macduff was a cause for celebrations.
It was a photo-finish - a dead-heat in fact on 439 - between Duff House Royal's David Morrison, Ian Angus and Sam Griffiths. and Fraserburgh who had Gordon Munro, Andrew Hepburnb and John Mitchell in their line-up.
The tie-breaker was a comparison of the teams' second-round totals and Duff House Royal won with 213 to the Broch's 215.
Bon Accord, spearheaded by Aberdeen Links champion Barrie Edmond with a 67, took a one-shot lead at the halfway stage, but finished third on 446, seven shots behind the first two.
The qualifiers for the Jaffrey Cup match-play competition were:

 137 Barrie Edmond (Bon Accord) 67 70.

139 David Morrison (Duff house Royal) 72 67.

143 Jack Harling (Banchory) 71 72

144 Gordon Munro (Fraserburgh) 75 69 (better second round).
