David Law came with a storming four-under-par run over his last eight holes to finish joint fourth in the German PGA's Developmental Tour event, the Open Madaef, at El Jadida GC, Morocco, today (Thu).
The Aberdonian, who plays out of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, earned 1,353 Euros and is now second in the Tour's Order of Merit with winnings of 10,148 Euros this year, second only to Germany's Bernd Ritthammer with 15,096 Euros.
Law finished with rounds of 73, 75 and 71 for a three-over-par total of 219 - 10 behind the two-shot winner of the 5,000 Euros first prize, Dutchman Richard Kind (71-69-69).
Law had a triple bogey 6 at a short hole in his first round and a double bogey 7 at a par-5 hole in his second round. And, with bogeys at the second, third and ninth to turn in three-over 39 in his final round, his prospects of a top 10 finish looked remote.
But Law was not twice Scottish amateur champion and once Scottish boys match-play title winner for nothing.
He parred the 10th and then the birdie fireworks started. He got a 4 at the long 11th, a 2 at the short 13th, and 3s at the par-4 14th and 18th to come romping home in four-under-par 32 for a one-under 71.
Law has a liking for Morocco courses, having been a winner in the African country.
