DUNCAN McNEILL (15 YEARS OLD) WINS SHAMASH TROPHY BY FIVE STROKES



    Duncan McNeill receives the Shamash Trophy from Portpatrick Dunskey club captain Mike Bryant.

Duncan McNeill, a 15-year-old two-handicap junior member at Powfoot Golf Club, won the Shamash Trophy men's open tournament at Portpatrick (Dunskey) Golf Club on Sunday.
On a lovely sunny spring day, after early rain, young Duncan took full advantage of the course's excellent condition with rounds of 66 and 67 for a total of seven-under-par 133.
He won by five strokes from Dean Armstrong (Lochmaben) (68-70 for 138),
Three players finished on 139 with third prize going to Neil Hamilton (Powfoot) (71-68) by virtue of a better second round than Matthew McCulloch (Portpatrick) (70-69) and Andrew Kerr (Crichton) (69-70).
