At last a rain-free day with even some bursts of sunshine and our thanks go to the greenstaff at Royal Musselburgh for the work they did prior and during the day to present such a well prepared course after the weather thrown at us recently.
Ninety-nine players competed for the Bootland Trophy with the victor being Andrew Erskine of Ratho Park with a gross four under par 66 (34-32).
He was closely followed by Andrew Oldcorn of Kings Acre with 67 (34-33) with third scratch prize going to Iain Wilson of Dalmahoy with a 70 (36-34).
Fourth spot was shared by Scott Catlin (Greenburn) and Norman Huguet (Musselburgh) on 72. Norman displayed great recovery after posting a 9 at the first hole to move from 98th place after that hole to fourth place after 18! Shows what can be done.

On the handicap prizelist top prize went to David Brydon of Torwoodee with net 67 (71 less 4), closely followed by Tony Boyle of Glenbervie on net 68 (73 less 5).
Third prize also went to Torwoodlee via John Denham on net 69 (75 less 6).

On the Senior front top prize went to David Watson of Peebles on net 73 (86 less 13).
The Scratch Order of Merit saw Andrew Erskine (Ratho Park) consolidate his lead. He is now on 280 points. Chris Morris (Kingsknowe) moves into 2nd place on 246.5 points
Gordon Law (Uphall)  remains in third place on 238.5 points but is joined on this number by Ian Wilson (Longniddry)
Darren Love (Archerfield) hangs on to his lead in the Handicap Order of Merit with 67.5 points by the narrowest of margins (0.5) from Iain Wilson (Longniddry).
Third place is shared on 63.5 by Daniel Airens (Falkirk Tryst) and Willie Laing (Prestonfield).
Finally - play was to win the Bootland Trophy and the name Bootland was shouted loud at the sixth hole where our long standing member Hinton Bootland achieved the fifth ace of his career at this 176yd hole. I received several descriptions of the shot in jest but a reliable source (the man himself) tells me it was a solid three-wood (having considered a five-wood) that went straight at the pin and on landing on the green rolled staight in the hole. Well done, Hinton!
Next week's outing is at Dalmahoy West.
