SCOT BROTHERSTON WELL UP IN EUROPEAN SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

 Ian Brotherston from Dumfries was lying joint fourth one one-over-par 72 at the end of the first round in the European senior men's amateur golf championship at Achensee, Austria today (Thursday).
He was two shots behind the leader, Irishman Adrian Morrow.
Keith Bruce (Edzell) was joint 16th on 74 but the other Scots in the field of 89 players did not fare so well.
Brian Grieve from Perth had an 86 and will start the second round in joint 82nd place.
Alistair Fiddes (Murcar Links) was lying 88th after an 89.
The only Scot in the European senior women's amateur championship, being played at the same venue, Christine McAndrew from Nairn Dunbar, had an 84 to be lying joint 36th in a field of 56.
