JAMIE SAVAGE LEADS BY NINE ON JUNIOR TOUR

Jamie Savage (Cawder), son of the Dalmuir professional, showed he is certainly a chip off the old block by opening up a nine-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Scottish Hydro Junior Tour event at The Roxburghe golf course, near Kelso today (Saturday).
Savage shot 15 birdies over 36 holes for scores of 68 and 66 and a 10-under-par halfway total of 134.
His nearest distant challengers are Greg Forrester (Lundin) and Alasdair McDougall (Elderslie) on 143. Forrester had scores of 74-69, McDougall 71-72.
Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish boys match-play champion Craig Howie (Peebles) is 14 shots off the pace with scores of 72-76 for 148.
Ben Craggs (Glenbervie), son of top Scottish coach Kevin Craggs, was lying joint second after a first-round 71 but slumped to a 78 on the second circuit for 149.
Players with aggregates of 155 or better qualified for Sunday's final two rounds.
