STEPHEN GRAY WINS TOP PRIZE AT DALMUIR

Hayston's Stephen Gray, winner of the Tartan Tour's Order of Merit and money table last season, got his first domestic win of 2012 under his belt in today's West Dunbartonshire pro-am at Dalmuir municipal course.
Gray had won pro-ams in Portugal and Spain in February-March but nothing in Scotland until now.
He shot a two-under-par 66 with a mixed bag of a card - an eagle 2 at the eighth, birdies at the second, long third, fourth, ninth and 10th but, on the debit side, a double bogey 5 at the short 11th and bogeys at the sixth, 12th and 14th before he parred the last four holes to secure a two-shot victory from Greg McBain (Gamola Golf).
McBain started well by birdieing the first three holes but his bogeys at 17 and 18 for a 68 were costly.
Gray won £1,270 and McBain £1,015.
Local pro Stewart Savage, who finished joint third on 69, led the amateur trio of Peter Verrecchia (handicap 12), Fraser McGlashan (18) and John Semple (18) to victory in the pro-am team event with a net score of 15-under-par 53.
