KERR IN EUROPRO TOUR PICTURE, GALLACHER HAS NIGHTMARE

Contrasting fortunes for two Edinburgh golfers in the EuroPro Tour event which started at Bovey Castle on Dartmoor, Devon today.
Mark Kerr (Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel) shot a four-under-par 66 to be joint third, two off the pace, while former Scottish amateur champion John Gallacher (Swanston) had a nightmare round of 13-over-par 83.
Kerr had five birdies, Gallacher only one, at the 18th after a day of horrors when he ran up a 9 at the par-4 16th, a 7 at the par-4 fourth and had double bogeys at the seventh and 10th in halves of 42-41.
Duncan Stewart (Grantown on Spey)) and Chris Kelly (Cawder) are joint 16th on 69  - five shots behind joint leaders Martin LeMesurier (South Winchester and Welshman Stuart Manley (Machynys Peninsula).
Elliot Saltman (Archer) shot a 71 for a share of 37th place.
Wallace Booth (Comrie) is joint 57th after a 72, one better than Ed Wood (Crow Wood) and Craigielaw's Shaun McAllister.
Winning Walker Cup team colleagues only last September, Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) and Banchory's James Byrne (IMG) continue to make heavy weather of their fledgling pro careers. They are bracked in 95th place on the four-over 74 mark. Stewart shot four birdies but also one double bogey and six bogeys. Byrne had three birdies but two double bogeys.
Myles Cunningham (Longniddry) had a 76 for a share of 123rd place, a shot ahead of Zack Saltman (Archerfield).
