NEWS FROM FAIRHAVEN TROPHIES JUNIOR TOURNAMENT

Despite glorious sunshine a blustery wind made scoring difficult during the first round, which saw the CSS rise to 76, and only two players managing to break the par of 72.
Oliver Carr, Ulverston GC, and Curtis Griffiths, Wentworth GC, led play at the end of day with very creditable rounds of 3-under par 69 respectively, despite Carr scoring a bogey on his final hole. Tom Harris, Castletown GC, finished the day in 3rd place following a level par round of 72.
Four players finshed on 73 - Oliver Carr (Heswall), Joe Dean (Renishaw Park), Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barrassie) and Harry Casey (Enfield), the latter by virtue of a great fight back after being 4 over par after 12 holes, which was highlighted by holing a an 18ft on the final hole for an eagle 3.
Amber Ratcliffe, Royal Cromer GC, led the chase for the girls' trophy, with a 3 over par round of 75, which was one below the CSS of 76. Five girls shared second place with rounds of 77, Lianna Bailey, Notts Ladies GC, Connie Jaffrey (Troon Ladies), Shelby Smart (Knowle), Emma Harris (Peel) and Bethan Popel (Long Ashton).
