LUKE DONALD MISSES CUT AFTER NIGHTMARE 79 IN ROUND 2

Ryder Cup player Luke Donald astonishingly crashed out of the US PGA Tour's Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club, California - despite a first round of three-under-par 68. Donald slumped to an eight-over-par 79 today made up of halves of 39 (four over) and 40 (four over).
He bogeyed the second, fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth in his outward half.
He had double bogeys at the long 11th and the par-4 18th.
The projected cut is 144 to qualify - which means Donald will miss out by three shots.
Martin Laird, in a multi-tie over the lead overnight, slipped down the leaderboard with a double bogey 6 at the seventh. He was still out on the course at the time of writing.
