LLOYD SALTMAN GOES EIGHT SHOTS CLEAR ON SPANISH CIRCUIT

FROM THE SPANISH Hi5 PRO TOUR WEBSITE
Lloyd Saltman followed up his first round of 65 yesterday with a spectacular round of 64 over the Dave Thomas-designed course at Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort at Fuenta Alamo in the Murcia province of south-east Spain.
The Scot's second round consisted of an eagle and six birdies without a single bogey on the card.
Conditions were perfect for the international field. The winds that were present yesterday vanished overnight and there were lots of birdies to be had by the 88 players representing 16 countries here this week.
Saltman now enjoys an eight-shot lead going into the final round of the 54 hole event on 15-under-par 129.
England's James Busby is his nearest challenger after a fine second round of 65 for 137.
Tied in 3rd place are Englishman Jamie Abbott and Ulsterman Gareth Shaw, both at five under par.
Lloyd Saltman's brothers Elliot and Zack made the cut with some ease. Players had to score 148 (four over par) or better to play in the third and final round. Elliot, playing while under suspension by the European Tour, improved by six shots for a 67 to be tied for seventh place on 140.
Zack is joint 14th on 142 after a second-round 70.
A fourth Scot, Craigielaw's Shaun McAllister also beat the cut with rounds of 77 and 69 for 146. He is sharing 28th place.
Three Scots did not make the cut.
John Gallagher missed out by four shots on 152, made up of rounds of 78 and 74.
Ian Redford missed out with a pair of 77s for 154
And former Scottish boys' match-play championship winner at Dunbar, Paul Doherty was 11 shots outside the qualifying mark with scores o 86 and 73 for 159.
