Lanarkshire Golf Association annual dinner

Lanarkshire Golf Association will hold its annual dinner and presentation of prizes at Colville Park Social Club, Motherwell on Friday, February 19. The dinner will be hosted by new Lanarkshire president Willie Sharpe of Hamilton Golf Club.
The dinner is to present the league flags to the captains of the league-winning clubs of 2009.
The clubs and captains were, in order from first division to fifth division:
Kirkhill GC, Tony O'Brien.
Hamilton GC, Neil Eadie.
Airdrie GC, David Gardner.
Shotts GC, Lewis Murray.
Biggar GC, Allan McLean.
The dinner is also to pay tribute to the Lanarkshire players who represented Scotland in 2009. Paul O'Hara would have replied on their behalf but he will be in Morocco, starting his professional career and Ross Kellett will be abroad with the Scotland squad.
The dinner is also an opportunity to entertain fellow county officials from Dumbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Stirlingshire, Ayrshire and Glasgow Golf Union.
Maurice Shields of Dumbartonshire is the newly elected second vice president of the Scottish Golf Union and is also a guest of the association.The entertainment for the night will be provided by two of Scotland's foremost speakers in Stuart Smith and Peter Brown.

Finally, the dinner gives the Lanarkshire Golf Association the opportunity to thank all its sponsors, including Caledonian Glass and Art who supplied all the crystal, Frank Craig of Larkhall for raffle prizes, Glenmuir for clothing and Donnelly and Atkinson for financial advice and support.
