Fairways Target Golf Leagues Report Week 3

It was tough going on Monday night with the longest target in use, and it had the highest points value, so scores were hard to come by. It was Orion who had the best score of 40 which easily saw off the Royal Swingers who are on a downward spiral after their heroics in the first week and didn’t even manage to get into double figures.
BM Trucks were next in the high scores but they had a very tight tussle against the Parahandies and it was the one ball that the Trucks managed in the far target that was the difference.
The good news story of the week is the Happy Gilmour’s, a new team this season, finally got the fire burning and secured their first win. It was the Sainties who were the unfortunate opposition but they did make the Gilmour’s job easier by failing to score.
The final game was the closest of the night and it was the Neverwillbees who sneaked home against the Specialists by five shots, courtesy of one more ball in the middle target.
These results leave BM Trucks and Orion undefeated at the top of the table and the Sainties still to get off the mark at the bottom.
MONDAY RESULTS
The Neverwillbees 20 – 15 Specialists
Parahandies 28 – 34 BM Trucks
Happy Gilmour’s 24 – 0 Sainties
Orion 40 – 7 Royal Swingers.

TUESDAY LEAGUE
With the furthest target still in play, the Tuesday teams also found scoring difficult and there were a couple of surprise results. The biggest was King Kenyon’s Klan scoring only 12 and being defeated by the Mad Drivers who managed just three more but this was enough to take the valuable two points.
The Luckless Leadbetters and the Senior Moments were showing everyone how it should be done. The Leadbetters top scored with 53 and the Senior Moments can feel unlucky that they were drawn against them this week as their 31 would have won almost any other game.
The Fairhurst Fore had the second best score of 33 against the Coastguards who themselves put up a spirited 23. Fairways finally managed to field a team and it was the Muirton Marvels that they faced so it was a great result for Fairways to take the win in what is really their first outing of the season.
It must be said, however, that the Marvels did put in a rather poor performance that was nearly the lowest score of the night.
These results leave a very symmetrical table with the top four teams tied on four points and the bottom four teams all tied on two points.
TUESDAY RESULTS
Mad Drivers 15 – 12 King Kenyon’s Klan
Senior Moments 31 – 53 Luckless Leadbetters
Fairhurst 33 – 22 Coastguards
Fairways 23 – 13 Muirton Marvels.
