Borrowman top Scot in Welsh

open amateur stroke-play

Dollar's Scott Borrowman was the highest-placed Scot among the final totals at the Welsh men's open amateur stroke-play championship won at Ashburnham Golf Club, South Wales by a comparatively unknown Dane, Andreas Harte, pictured right by courtesy of Tom Ward Photography.
Harte, who was never headed after taking the lead at the halfway stage, had rounds of 71, 68, 66 and 71 for 12-under-par 276, finishing clear of runner-up Matt Haines (Rochester &Cobham Park) who had scores of 73, 69, 69 and 69.
Borrowman finished joint fifth on 285 with rounds of 73, 73, 60 and 69.
James Ross (Royal Burgess), the rapidly-rising Edinburgh player, finished next best Scot in 13th place on level par 288 after a great final round of 66 which matched the best of the tournament, by Harte in the third round.
