the pace in Moroccan Classic

Former Scottish amateur champion Andrew McArthur from Windyhill heads into the final day of the European Challenge Tour's Moroccan Classic just three strokes behind leader Englishman Robert Coles after a third round 69 in El Jadida.
The 29 year old from Glasgow birdied the first hole then picked up further shots on the eighth, 11th and 13th holes but bogeyed the last to finish on six under par, with Coles carding a round of 71.
McArthur is now well placed to try to add to his victory in the Reale Challenge de España on the European Challenge Tour last year, although he admitted the dropped shot on the last when his drive found the bushes could be costly.
“That was my first bogey in 35 holes since I had a double bogey on 18 on the first day,” he said. “I had a wry smile coming up the last knowing that but I managed to salvage a six rather than a seven.
“I should really stick to a three wood rather than a driver on that hole. I don’t know what it is. There are much more difficult tee shots out there but there’s something about having to come over the bushes.
“I missed tons of chances out there but I’m content with the way I’m playing. If the conditions stay like this tomorrow and I can hole some more putts there is definitely a low score out there.”
Coles birdied the last hole after three putting the 17th to card a 71 as he looks to add to his own sole Challenge Tour title victory in the BA-CA Golf Open, presented by Telekom Austria in 2003.
“The difference was I didn’t hole any putts today apart from a 12 footer on the first and the one of the last,” said Coles.
“I played OK on the back nine but missed a few chances and then three putted 17. It was nice to finish with a birdie rather than have that in my memory.
“I think it depends on the weather a lot tomorrow but it is possible to shoot a low score out there. I’m just going to try to play like I have done the past three days. I’d like to play well tomorrow.
“The last time I won I came from behind but I would prefer to have a three shot lead than be that many shots behind.
“Hopefully it will be a good weekend all round with West Ham also winning today!”
McArthur’s compatriot George Murray, another past Scottish amateur champion, from Anstruther in Fife, carded a one under par 71 to move to one under par for the tournament.
