Downfield boys win Angus team championship

for third year in a row ...

and Matthew Reid is top of the class!

Downfield Golf Club's junior team have won the Angus county boys' team championship for the third year in a row.

They headed a field of 12 teams by 10 strokes.

Earlier, Matthew Reid, a pupil of St John's High School, Dundee, had a scratch 67 over the Carnoustie Buddon Course to win a trophy at the East District schools championship.
Capped last year for Scotland against England in the annual schools international, played in 2008 at Royal Lytham St Annes, he will be a leading contender for the Scottish schoolboys championship when it is played at Carnoustie on June 7.

Boys' Championship - 1 Matthew Reid (St John's High) 67, 2 Michael Maxwell (Carnoustie High) 68, 3 Scot McGregor (Forfar Academy) 69.

Girls Championship - 1 Louise Smith (Grove Academy) 67 (better inward half), 2 Jessica Meek (Carnoustie High) 67, 3 Katie Reid (Grove Academy) 68

Boys' Handicap Team Event - 1 Menzieshill High 143, Westers High 144, Grove Cademy 146.

Boys' Handicap Individual - 1 Philip Fraser (Monifieth High) 67 (better inward half), 2 Andrew Anderson (Websters High) 67 (better inward half), 3 Martin Strachan (Menzieshill High) 67.

Boys' Scratch Team - 1 Carnoustie High 141, 2 St John's High 145, 3 Grove Academy 150.
