David Law makes debut for North-east

District men's team against Borders

New Scottish boys match-play champion David Law (Hazlehead) has been chosen to make his debut for the North-east District men's team to play Borders in an SGU area team championship tie at Newburgh on Sunday, May 17.
The team is:
Anthony Bews (Murcar Links), Mark Halliday (Royal Aberdeen), Brian Innes (Murcar Links), David Law (Hazlehead), Philip McLean (Peterhead), Laurie Phillips (Cruden Bay).
Reserve: Kris Nicol (Fraserburgh).

The NE District youths team beat Aberdeenshire women 7 1/2-1 1/2 at Newburgh in what is to become an annual match for a trophy presented by Ken Bennions.
The format was nine-hole foursomes and nine-hole singles.

Foursomes - G Hogg & N McAndrew halved with L Murray & S Leslie; R McKen & D McAndrew bt D Pocock & S Murray 3 and 2; S Strachanm & A Dunton bt S Wood & L McLardy 4 and 3 (2 1/2- 1/2).
Singles - Hogg lost to L Murray 3 and 2, N McAndrew bt Leslie 3 and 2, McKen bt Pocock 3 and 2, D McAndrew bt S Murray 1 hole, Strachan bt Wood 2 and 1, Dutton bt McLardy 1 hole (5-1).
