Kyle Godsman steps up to win North of

Scotland boys' championship at Inverness

Third last year in the event, Kyle Godsman (Hopeman) stepped up to win the North of Scotland boys' golf championship for the H R Spence Trophy, sponsored by J & C Fotheringham at Inverness Golf Club
Godsman, with a one under par second-round 68, came from two behind to win from the holder, Rodger Clarke (Moray).
Godsman's first round 74 left him three shots behind the first-round leader, Ali Begg (Muir of Ord). Begg had a second-round "disaster" of 79 and finished on 150.

But with the only sub par card of the day - a 68 - Godsman he took the 36 hole lead on 138 and won the prestigious trophy by two shots from Clarke who scored a 73 and a 71.

Nairn siblings Sean and Andrew Burgess had the lowest scratch aggregates in the under-16 age section with Sean's better second round seperating them, a 76 to a 77. Home trio Craig Black, Greg Bennett and Scott Murray led the handicap returns with respective aggregates of 134, 135 and 136.
