Duncan Stewart from Grantown-on-Spey has not enjoyed many tournament opportunities since he turned pro last year following a successfull four years on the American college circuit as a student at Jacksonville University, Florida.

But when he gets the chance the sturdy Scot shows he can still play better than a most. Rounds of 68 and 67 for 135 - nine shots under par - have Stewart (pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, all rights reserved) in joint third place, only one shot off the pace, with two rounds to go in the European Challenge Tour's Lexus Open at the Moss & Rygge Golf Club in Dilling, Norway.

Home favourite Lars Brovold shot a second successive flawless 67 to share the lead with fellow Scandinavian Jeppe Huldahl.
