LATER NEWS:

George Woolgar is nice and dry in the clubhouse in the Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour event at Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire – one shot clear at six under after completing his first two rounds.
The second day began with clear sunny skies and renewed optimism that a full day’s play would make the final day simple but as morning turned to afternoon the weather closed in and began to cause problems. The players came off twice after Met Office warnings of thunder and lightning forced them off the course for safety reasons and another long delay. A number of players have completed both rounds, but conversely several golfers are still waiting to start their second round.
Woolgar (Capitalservices.com) will be delighted with the position he is in ahead of the final day. He resumed his tournament at four under after an opening round 67 and made early strides with birdies on the opening two holes. Bogeys at 10 and 12 sandwiched a third birdie at 11, and he moved his score to six under with a fourth birdie at 17 to card 69.
Four players are in the clubhouse one shot behind Woolgar at five under for the tournament. Sean McDonagh (The Grand Golf Club) and Graham Gordon (SWM Golf Management) both shot rounds of 66 after level first rounds to get to five under. McDonagh birdied five holes on the front nine, while Gordon finished birdie-par-eagle to leap into contention.
Peter Richardson (Eden Golf Club) would’ve been in better shape but for a double bogey on 15, the only dropped shots of a round of 69 with four birdies. James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City GC) traded five birdies for five bogeys to go round level today, shooting 66 in his opening round.
Birdies on seven and nine after starting at the tenth for Dale Marmion (Eaton) dragged his score to three under for the tournament where he is joined by Chris Geraghty (St. Annes Old Links) and Mark Thomas (Hallamshire).
Order of Merit leader Noel Fox (MMI) shot 73 to move to two under for the tournament after a 67 in the first round, while playing partner and holder of second spot in the Order of Merit Lloyd Kennedy is in danger of missing the cut at three over after following a 72 with a 73.
It is unlikely any further rounds will be completed today so the players will be back in the morning to finish the second round.
