FINCA CORTESÍN GOLF CLUB

A reference in the world of golf, designed by Cabell B. Robinson

Of all the golf courses on the Costa del Sol, the FINCA CORTESIN GOLF COURSE is, without a doubt, one of the best. It was designed by Cabell B. Robinson, licensed landscape architect and alumnus of the University of Harvard..

Robinson began his professional career in 1967 as part of Robert Trent Jones’s team, the most important designer of all times. The twenty years of collaboration between the two led to the construction of some of the best golf courses on the Mediterranean Coast, such as the Valderrama Golf Course (Sotogrande, Spain), Golf Spérone (Corsica), Castelconturbio GC (Italy) and Royal Golf of Agadir (Morocco).

In 1987, Cabell B. Robinson becomes independent and establishes his own office in Spain. Since then, he has worked throughout Europe and Morocco, where he has acquired most of his experience. Amongst his golf courses, the following merit special mention: Sotogrande-La Reserva and Santana Golf (Spain), Praia d´El Rey (Portugal), Aphrodite Resort (Cyprus) and Royal Golf d´El Jadida (Morocco).

Features of the Golf Course

One of the longest and most beautiful golf courses in Europe

Unlike the majority of the existing golf courses on the Costa del Sol, the Finca Cortesín Golf Course is a unique course where real estate developments do not interfere in the landscape, so the player can concentrate on the game and not on the surrounding houses.

Another fundamental feature of the course is the design, the moulding of holes has not been forced thanks to the quality of the soil, so the player can enjoy his game in completely natural surroundings.

The course measures almost 7,000m in length from the white poles, making it one of the longest courses in Europe, with a total par of 72. The holes were orientated taking into account the dominating winds and the different views, making each one of them a unique experience.

Finca Cortesin, has also established itself as Costa del Sol's reference in Customer Service and attention to detail. Fresh fruit and cold water are just some of the benefits players will get when playing the beautiful golf course.

The Golf Course in figures

- An investment of 22 million Euros
- The length of the course is 6,802 m. with a yardage of 7,557 yds., making it the longest in Spain and within the top 10 in Europe

- A total of 65,000 different varieties of trees and plants have been planted. All the species are autochthonous and will surely be a breath of fresh air for the area of Casares. Trees and plants include: hundred-year-old olive trees, rosemary, acacias, oleander, carob trees, etc.

- There will be annual savings of 100,000 m3 of water, thanks to the modern technology used for the irrigation systems. It includes a main computer that will control the 3,000 sprinklers and software to optimise water savings, connected to a weather station that is in charge of saving the maximum possible amount of water.

- The 7th hole has the longest par 4 in Spain: 452 mts

- 14001 is the number of the ISO Environmental Certificate that Finca Cortesín has obtained and which certifies that the strictest norms have been adhered to in the construction and exploitation of the course in order to protect the environment and natural surroundings. These measures include: irrigation with recycled water, the planting of autochthonous species, the use of natural fertilisers and the restriction of the use of chemical products.

- The 13th hole has been included in the list of the best 18 holes in Andalusia. With a par 4 of 383 m., it is without a doubt the most spectacular and beautiful hole in Finca Cortesín.
