Lothians boys record eighth win
in boys' area team championship
Lothians won the Scottish boys' area team golf championship at Kingsknowe Golf Club today for a record eighth time and for the sixth in the past 12 years.
Their quartet of Oliver Huish, Mark Dickson, Tom Blennerhassett and Stuart Boyle totalled 354 in the format of two foursomes' morning play and four singles (three to count) in the afternoon.
They had three shots to spare from Renfrewshire's Darryn Grant, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Colin Thomson and Sam Binning with Perth & Kinross (Daniel Young, Paul McPhee, Angus Tester and Roddy Forgie) third on 358.
Defending champions Ayrshire (Scott Brown, Adam Foley, Andrew Abercromnbie and Colin Robinson) finished fourth on 363.
Fife's Josh Anderson, Sean Thompson, Neil Beattie and Jack Thorburn came fifth on 364.
North's Rodger Clarke, Ian Allan, Chjris Gaittens and Kyle Godsman came eight on 366, one shot ahead of North-east (Chris Robb, Tom Spencer, Adam Dunton and Jack Scott).
Angus (Matthew Reid, Ross Storriere, Mark Thomson and Reece Mitchell) finished 12th of 16 on 373.
Fraser Moore (Stirlingshire) won the Niagara Cup for the best individual score of two under par 67. Josh Anderson (Fife) also had a 67 but Moore won the presitigious individual cup with a better inward half, 33 to 34.
