Law, Smith top Scots in
German Boys' Open

Aberdeen's David Law (Hazlehead) and Ayrshire's Kyle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie) finished joint 12th in the German Boys' Open championship over three rounds at St Leon-Rot Golf Club, Heidelberg today (Sunday).
Law had scores of 75, 71 and 71 for a one-over-par total of 217 a total matched by Smith, thanks to a fine last round of 68 after earlier scores of 72 and 77.
Smith birdied the fourth, seventh, 11th, 12th, 14th and 16th with bogeys at the fifth and sixth in his closing round.
Law, picture right by Cal Carson Golf Agency (all rights reserved), was heading for a top-10 finish until he dropped shots at the 15th and 18th.
The third Scot among the 44 qualifiers for the last round, Paul Shields (Kirkhill) finished joint 30th on 222 with scores of 73, 74 and 75. Like Law, Paul shed shots late. He had a double bogey at the short 16th and also dropped one at the 17th.
Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton) (75-75: 150), James Ross (Royal Burgess) (76-76:152) and Stuart Ballingall (Dunston Hall) (73-80: 153) failed to beat the 36-hole cut.
The tournament was won by three shots by Germany's Max Kramer with a seven-under-par total of 209, made up of rounds of 70, 72 and 67.
