DAVID LAW'S PURPLE PATCH HELPS HIM
WIN SGU JUNIOR TOUR EVENT AT LOSSIE
Aberdeen's David Law (Hazlehead) covered 15 consecutive holes in seven under par on his way to a one-stroke victory from Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton) in today's (Saturday) Scottish Golf Union Junior Tour Event 4 over the Moray Golf Club Old Course at Lossiemouth.
Law had a double bogey 6 at the third hole in his first-round but then hit a purple patch of only pars and birdies. He birdied the ninth, 10th, 13th, 15th and 16 before birdieing the first and second of his second round.
He again had a double bogey 6 - at the eighth - in his second round but had a great eagle 2 at the driveable 10th, dropped shots at the 11th and 13th before finish with a victory-clinching birdie at the difficult 18th hole.
Law, who had an eagle and eight birdies over the 36 holes, had rounds of 69 and 70 for a three-under-par total of 139.
Runner-up on140 came Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton ) with scores of 71 and 69. Andrew also had an eagle 2 at the 10th, in the first round. McLachlan, two shots off the pace after an opening round of 71, had birdies at the first, second, sixth and 17th but bogeys at the fifth and 14th in a second-round 69 - the best by anyone in the afternoon for 140.
