TOP TEN FINISH IN KENTUCKY
Oldmeldrum's Lewis Kirton, a student at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, finished joint 18th in a field of 60 players for the Men's Big East Conference Championship over the 7,103yd, par-72 Traditions Course in northern Kentucky.
Kirton, a member at Newmachar Golf Club, could have finished in the top 10 but for bogeying the 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th in his final round of 74 which followed a pair of 75s.
The Scottish youth cap's total of 224 was 13 shots behind Ted Gray (Marquette University) who scored 68, 68 and 75 for five-under-par 211 and a five-stroke victory.
Louisville (876) finished second to Marquette University (874) in a field of 12 or the team event.
