EDZELL STUDENT ONLY ONE SHOT
OFF THE PACE AT GOOSEPOND
COLONY IN ALABAMA
Last year's Scottish boys' match-play championship beaten finalist William Bremner from Edzell is having his best tournament since he enrolled at John A Logan College, Illinois last autumn on a golf scholarship.
William has scored 71 and 73 for a two-over-par 36-hole tally of 144 over the par-71 course of 6,999yd in the Goosepond Spring Fling college tournament at the quaintly named Goosepond Colony Golf Club in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Bremner is tied third, only one shot behind joint leaders Richard Williams (Central Alabama) and Jin Wood Chung (Darton), both of whom have scored 71 and 72.
Central Alabama (579) lead the 19-strong team event from Darton (589) and John A Logan College (595).
There is one round to go today but it is not an event being covered "live" by GolfStat so it will probably be Sunday evening before we get news of how it all finished.
