EUROPEAN CHALLENGE TOUR EVENT
BACK AT CARDRONA AT END OF JUNE

The European Challenge tour event, "The Scottish Challenge,"will return to the picturesque Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club, near Peebles from June 26-29.
Won in 2007 by England’s Robert Dinwiddie, the event – now in its third year – was established to aid Scotland’s elite golfing talent in progressing from the amateur to the professional ranks.
The tournament again welcomes back the financial commitment and support of EventScotland, the national events agency.
As a result of Scotland hosting the event, Eric Ramsay and Jamie McLeary have cemented their places on the European Challenge Tour alongside other emerging Tour talents such as Andrew McArthur, Richie Ramsay and George Murray.
Paul Bush, Chief Operating Officer of EventScotland, said: “The Scottish Challenge continues to help develop the careers of Scotland’s aspiring professionals, which is why we’re delighted to sustain our support of one of the biggest events on the European Challenge Tour Schedule.
“We’ve already seen the benefits over the past two years, with a number of players – such as Jamie McLeary and Eric Ramsay – gaining full playing privileges on the Challenge Tour. Without the Scottish Challenge event, that wouldn’t have happened.”
Ruaridh Macdonald, Marketing Director of Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, said: “Our commitment to The Challenge Tour represents one of the first major sponsorships on behalf of Macdonald Golf. Along with Macdonald Golf Ambassador Sandy Lyle, we welcome back the Challenge Tour players – old and new – to Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club this year.
“We are committed to growing Macdonald Golf in Scotland, and with high profile events such as The Scottish Challenge, a high quality product, a strong team and support from Sandy Lyle, the brand continues to go from strength to strength.”
Alain de Soultrait, Director of the European Challenge Tour, said: “We are very much looking forward to the Scottish Challenge returning to the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf and Country Club, with a course and facilities which were highly praised by the professional golfers last year.
“We welcome the continued support of EventScotland and Macdonald Hotels, and hope that together we can continue playing a part in the development of young Scottish players, enabling them to gain the valuable experience needed to take their golf game to a new level.”
